Our Labyrinth

Be still and know that I am God. - Psalm 46:10

We are priviliged to have not one, but two labyrinths at Ascension; a moveable indoor labyrinth and our large outdoor labyrinth. Our labyrinths are used as a form of meditation. It is a path that is walked and offers an accessible way to step into the moment, to focus and pray. You are invited to walk and discover for yourself how your experience may excite, nourish and complement your walk with God.  The Ascension Church Outdoor Labyrinth is located behind the church on the North side and is open to the public. Children must be accompanied by an adult. There is also a bench available for those who would prefer to sit rather than walk.

Walking the Labyrinth

The labyrinth offers an accessible way to step into the moment to focus, meditate, or pray. Modern experience places unprecedented demands upon the senses, occupying our attention with a multitude of distractions. The labyrinth is a rediscovered ancient tool to center and calm the mind and the heart. Walking the winding pathway cultivates an inner peace where the surrounding world melts away leaving just you and God. Walk the path naturally to the center. Pause; be still and notice your breath. Ask and listen within. In your own time, begin yout attentive walk out. This practice allows space and time for insight to surface.

The Labyrinth is a place for...

  • A quiet walk

  • Seeking balance in daily life

  • Support in times of need

  • Celebration and thanksgiving

  • Strength in grief, illness, and challenge

  • Silent contemplation

  • Guidance and insight

  • Closeness to God

We invite you to walk and discover for yourself how this sacred spiritual practice may excite, nourish, and complement your walk with God.
