Fellowship Hour Hosts

All members of the congregation have the opportunity to serve occasionally as coffee hour or potluck hosts, providing light refreshments after church. Assignment is generally by family and younger members of the family are invited to participate with the adults.  Newer members of the parish are given time to become acquainted before being asked to serve as coffee hour hosts. A Vestry member sets up the schedule which is posted in the church kitchen and Parish Hall, and monthly assignments are listed in the Epistle (monthly newsletter). Reminders and instructions for these tasks are sent to participants the week before they are scheduled.

Drums Not Tums

Djembe drumming is good for you. It has been shown to reduce stress and boost one's immune system with regular playing. We learn to play simple rhythmic drumming patterns by repetition. No musical experience is needed to participate with this group. We laugh, a lot, and learn that "there are no wrong notes." We meet every Tuesday and Thursday 12:30 pm. Open to the public and all are welcome. Contact Paula Dodd for further information or if you need to borrow a drum.

MASS - Monday Ascension Supper Sisters group

MASS is open to all women of the Ascension Church.  As we eat together and learn one another's stories we share joys and concerns, food, and support each other on our life's journey.  We meet on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm for a potluck meal, fellowship, and much laughter.   (We do not meet on the "major holidays" which fall on Mondays.)  We gather in the kitchen of Ascension to plate our meal and then eat in the Memorial Room.

St. Martha's Guild

Ascension men and women help maintain the kitchen. This includes tidying the drawers and cupboards and doing the kitchen laundry.  They are not responsible for cleaning the floor in the kitchen, nor are they responsible for cleaning up after every activity!

Seasonal Activities

There are many parish activities taking place during the year for both fellowship and work at the church. These may be related to liturgical “seasons” of the year; such as the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Lenten Soup Suppers and Advent Greening of the Church. Others might include receptions for special services, Work Days (twice yearly clean-up), and the Blessing of the Animals in the fall. Details for these and other activities can be found in The Epistle, our monthly newsletter.
